Pralav Dhyani was a cadet on the RAK Afrikana in 2010 when Somali pirates took him and the rest of the crew hostage. He’s now a maritime entrepreneur in Dubai, and he’s just published a book in India called Hijacked about his harrowing experience over fifteen years ago. This interview was irresistible to me for obvious reasons; I thought we might have a lot to talk about, and we did.
The sound’s a little compromised, but into the bargain you hear birds and clanking dishes at the outdoor café in Dubai where Pralav sat during our conversation, which I think is nice.
